Rescue Sled UL
The ultra-light version of our multi-purpose rescue tarp for mountain guides, ski guides, professional skiers and backcountry adventurers. Tested in conjunction with the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association.
A combination of 0.67oz Dyneema® Composite Fabric (on the sides) and 1.43oz Dyneema® Composite Fabric (for the base) have been used to create an ultra-light waterproof, durable and versatile piece of mountain equipment. Additional weight savings have been made over our classic XP sled tarp, by using Kevlar® webbing. Careful attention has been given to every detail, to ensure the tarp is as light as possible (so you actually take it on your trip!) without compromising strength.
Sled strapping kits are sold separately - if you are travelling in glaciated terrain or with a rope, you can opt to use your own cords and rope instead.

Structural webbing net
Haul lines, tie-in points and hand loops provide a structural, secure and independent 'net' around the patient, with extra reinforcement positioned underneath the torso. This enables the sled to be dragged in all directions and lifted securely (note that independent rigging and attachment to a rated climbing harness is required). The tie-in points are colour coded for ease of use.
Ski loops
Bar-tacked loops hold skis in position underneath the patient - simply thread the ski tips and tails through the webbing loops.
Multi-purpose
The tarp has been sewn in a way which allows it to be rolled up to secure a patient, folded lengthwise for use as a 2 person top + tail bivvy bag, or folded widthwise for use as a 4-5 person bothy bag. Heavy-duty snap fasteners prevent the sides from coming undone in the wind.
Dyneema® Composite Fabric 1.43oz
1.43oz Dyneeema® Composite Fabric (also known as Cuben Fiber). DCF is a patented, ultra-lightweight fabric made of flexible non-woven composite laminates which are reinforced with Dyneema® fibers.
This fabric is costly and for good reason. It's 15x strong than steel and provides the highest tear and tensile strength of any competing fabric on a weight-by-weight and thickness basis. Used for bags and tarps that demand high-performance and the absolute best in ultra-lightweight, waterproof fabric.
It is our fabric of choice for the base of the Rescue Sled UL.

Tarp loop attachment
Hypalon® patch reinforced eyelets around the perimeter of the tarp allow for adding tarp loops for classic shelter use or as a ground sheet. Using cord for strapping allows you to repurpose the cord as tarp loops while reducing weight and bulk.
Dyneema® Composite Fabric 0.67oz
0.67oz Dyneema® Composite Fabric (also known as Cuben Fiber) has an added mylar layer for increased abrasion/puncture resistance. DCF is a patented, ultra-lightweight fabric made of flexible non-woven composite laminates which are reinforced with Dyneema® fibers.
This fabric is costly and for good reason. It's 15x stronger than steel and provides the highest tear and tensile strength of any competing fabric on a weight-by-weight and thickness basis. Used for bags and tarps that demand high-performance and the absolute best in ultra-lightweight, waterproof fabric.
It is our fabric of choice for the sides of the Rescue Sled UL.

Kevlar® webbing
Kevlar® 1/2″ Webbing has a 550 pound breaking strength and weighs just 0.6 grams per foot. The weave on this webbing is extremely tight compared to other webbings. It has almost no stretch and doesn’t absorb much water.
